Just a quick photoblog for now.
Warren and I spent three days in the piercing hot sun watching the 2nd round of the Australasian V8 Supercar series at Pukekohe.
Here is a few of my photos from the weekend..

Happiness is just a game
Just an emotion of chance
A habitual tease to many of us
The rare few lucky to have it last
It teeters in your psychi
On the edge of elation and pain
It baits the most defensive nature
With no promise of euphoria gained
The risk is allowing this joy
with knowing that it comes with hurt
The secret is in the knowing
which bliss is worth the work.
I chose my bliss, and I accept the downfalls and loses that go with it.
Those that truly know and accept me, accept my bliss, too.
I’m happy
And - I like pie

I mentioned that I was going to get Friends of the Zoo passes.. I did. On Saturday.
I’ve been twice each since buying it, so it’s over 60% paid for itself already
On Sunday, I just ‘popped in to the zoo’ (’cause I can do that now, for free)
The zoo is a safe haven for me. A place to ponder and marvel at nature, and just be.
This little fella was what I captured yesterday..
There is a couple more photos of his afternoon snacking here
Click them to full res - they’re pretty sharp
Once upon a time the subject was enough for it to be a semi decent picture to me.. then I was taught to look for sharpness and light and clarity and dust spots… I’m too fussy these days

“Jump Back” One of the all time classic lines, in an all time classic flick, was coined so elloquently by Kevin Bacon’s caracter, Ren McCormack, in Footloose.
On an impulse, I bought a recent DVD release of a trio of 80’s Gen-Xers movies. The other two films, that so delightfully made up the 3, were Flashdance & Pretty in Pink (though I think Sixteen Candles or The Breakfast club should have secured the #3 spot).
I loved them then, because it was all so real, and repressed, and angsty and possible. I love them now because they epitomise the entire decade. Big hair, leg warmers, 80’s slang and toe tapping tunes. Ah, the 80’s. Flashdance, along with Footloose and Fame (The series, although I’m going to go on a hunt for the movie) are what inspired my love of dance. The 80’s are almost retro and cool now. I should have kept the dancing up.
Say Anything just entertained me in my bid to raise the sandman. The final scene is the story of my life.. “Just wait for the ding”
Hire it out, You’ll understand.
