I mentioned that I was going to get Friends of the Zoo passes.. I did. On Saturday.
I’ve been twice each since buying it, so it’s over 60% paid for itself already

On Sunday, I just ‘popped in to the zoo’ (’cause I can do that now, for free) ;)

The zoo is a safe haven for me. A place to ponder and marvel at nature, and just be.

This little fella was what I captured yesterday..

Clean up

There is a couple more photos of his afternoon snacking here

Click them to full res - they’re pretty sharp ;)

Once upon a time the subject was enough for it to be a semi decent picture to me.. then I was taught to look for sharpness and light and clarity and dust spots… I’m too fussy these days

  1. The forgetting the lens, was just an excuse to visit the zoo twice. :P

Next time I may “forget” the monopod, and rest it on Kirst’s head. ;)

  2. I’m only just tall enough for that, I think..

  3. Someone forget how to write html code? :P

  4. Did not :P !
I forgot which coding language I was using here.. honest.

Noone can tell when full editing functions are at my finger tips, after posting, anyhoo..

(and, apparently my notify list email decided to screw up the coding too, even after previewing before sending.. bad notifylist )

  5. my favorite zoo aminal.

  6. ooo cool pic. i wish i was a good foto-grapha :)
im not a fan of the zoo. they always make me so sad for the animals, maybe im just not going to the right ones.

  7. 2 Blog updates in one week? Someone alert the media!

Nice pics Kirst, but what kind of tree is that? I’ve never seen one bare fruit like that, must be some sort of southern hemisphere hybrid? And did they let you bring your iCar into the zoo to stand on to compose your shots? :)
Sounds like you guys had a fun day at the Zoo, I’m gonna have to drag myself down to ours soon, we have a great one that I don’t visit near often enough.
    Happy Monday, blah! :(

  8. It’s Tuesday, Mark!
    Question Answering time ;)

-Yes, it’s Fruitius of many sortus tree-us. Very rare and only found at Auckland Zoo. Along with Tube-us full of food-us, stickus full of bugs-us and many other weird and wonderful assorted things.
-iCar sat outside waiting for our return. She’s a patient girl ;)
-Fun we had, and so should you if you visit a Zoo near you soon. You must and you must post pics on Chromentia to show us :D

Ms Rose - you are a foto-grapher - I’ve seen your shots. They’re cool! If you ever make it to NZ, I’ll take you to the zoo for a meander. It’s not so bad here, the animals are in large open areas where they can run around and stretch their legs. I’d have free’d them all, in the veil of night, if I didn’t think they were in good hands ;)

  9. very nice and i commend you on such a quick update!!! *claps* Nice photos indeed. I visited the zoo in Memphis, Tennessee just last year and had a ball almost..it was freaking HOT and i couldn’t get enough SNO CONES i tell ya.. i’ll have to see if i can find those pics from the zoo to share with ya all!!! Hey now there’s an idea for an update to my Blog wooohoo glad i thought of it ehehe :)

  10. Update already, Brian

  11. if you didn’t get pics of the lions it wasn’t a worthwhile trip to the zoo.

  12. I did! I just didn’t think they were post worthy ;)

  13. lions vs. lions snack food. :p
