Peter arrived back in NZ after his 2 month stint in the Solies.
He flew, via Herc (perks of the job :P ), to his parents temporary house in Oxford the day after his NZ arrival. His Parents had recently moved north from the very picturesque town of Cromwell.

Apparently, I’ll soon be able to fly the AirForce planes too, rather than domestic.. yehaw! Whenuapai is 15 mins from my house, as opposed to driving to Manukau Harbour, and hour and a half away (with peak hour Traffic).

A week later, I boarded AirNZ 563 to Christchurch. This time, I actually took a book to read so I didn’t have to read the inflight magazine. Being that I had just finished one of the 5 books I am reading (all at the same time), you’d think I’d continue on with one of the other 4; no, I bought a new one by my favourite Author – Dean Koontz. His last book – From the Corner of his Eye – took me less than 3 weeks to read, I think I’m addicted.. but that’s not important right not :P

I arrived in the chilly dead of night to Christchurch (9:45pm) to find Peter waiting for me.

He swiftly loaded me, and my bags up in the Supra, and drove the 45mins North West of Christchurch to his parent’s house. It was good to see them again, and being that I was out of hearing practice for a few months, the Glaswegian accent confused me even more. The picture of Peter and I already adorning a frame embarrassed me …. The other family snaps of him is full dress uniform we’re far more interesting, and the first time I’d seen him in his Blues (I don’t actually know what they’re called, but dads Naval dress uniform was his *whites*, so I figure I can’t be far wrong..)

The following day we headed into Christchurch to catch up with Ian, and dawdle around Northlands Mall. After a long yack and a Caramel Machiatto with a shot of Rasberry we bid farewell to Ian. I was swiftly escourted to a camera shop and asked opinions on TriPods. Odd, I thought. Then, I was manouvered through the crowds to one of the electronic games stores.
“xBox or a TriPod?”
“Say what?”
“For your birthday” *smirk*
“I said a card was enough, you brat!” *Wide eyes*
“xBox or TriPod, pick one” *grin*
Mean! I want both!
I didn’t actually want anything, my birthday was months ago, and the reminder that I was 30 was unpleasant.. xBox was far too extravagant, and so was the TriPod that I had originally chosen (unbeknown to me why) as a good one. Peter insisted on one or the other, so I went for the cheaper of the two. I have a very nice, shiney new Tripod with a level thingy on it.. much needed because I’m usually a tad wonky ;)

I drove the Supra home, but I think Peter only let me because 90% of the drive back to Oxford is dead straight roads :|

Sunday we relaxed at home for the day, knowing that we had a mammoth journey ahead of us, I was excited

  3. Count Richard William Watts the 3rd, of Hamilton says:

You mean he actually!!! let YOU drive his car!! OMG!! hahah :) oh well…. I guess you’d have eventually made him cave… you are a girl…. and I’ve seen this happen time and time again.
*mumbles* this is why we shouldnt have let girls out of the kitchen* heheh, Im just being conservative for today!!

LOOK at my TITLE!! cool huh?

  4. iKirst says:

Richard, you nut! Dick Watts 3rd eh?!
Yes, he let me drive the Supra, no hesitation, and I didn’t even ask, he just tossed me the keys ;)
    Being a girl has it’s advantages :P
However! Kitchenesque comments, although amusing, are so last year, m’dear :P hehe.

  5. Count Richard William Watts the 3rd, of Hamilton says:

Well we conservatives think last year is SO this year… its part of being conservative ya know?

    Goes with the title *sniff*

  6. Jae says:

peters here at work with me, distracting me from my important duties that are vital to national security… honest. Ratsh!t about the supra :(

  7. iKirst says:

    G’day Jae :D
I read *Important Duties and Vital National Securities* as *Emailing my mates and reading iKirst ’cause Peter made me do it (I should be a national security issue  )
Yes, crappola about the Supra (I haven’t written about it yet though, so shoosh).
Get back to work, make Peter go home and do the dishes :P

Thanks for stopping by :D :D

  8. Ian says:

ah ha, 3rd mention in the inimitable ikirst archives. wh33! *pretends to fly around making airplane noises* thought peter was in solomons for 3 months? also i think you got the order of day events mixed up, due to lack of soup. 8^P

  9. iKirst says:

    Ian :)
Yeah, I got the Tripod stuff in one go, instead of ..’before we saw you, during, then the choice afterwards’… It was easier that way! :P (lack of more than soup though  )
3rd mention, and many more to come, I’m sure ;)

Clarification, Peter was only in the Solies for 2 months. It’s the 6 months in Afganistan that I don’t like hearing about. (No, he hasn’t been put on deployment, or put his name down, but DAMN him for having a trade that not many others do..)
BTW, out of curiosity… there is an *I am Naughty* on my site, does the same smilies.. I could be tres geeky and run the IPs, see if they match, but it’s just easier to ask..Are you one and the same?

  16. Ian says:

i am shocked that you think i’m that mischievious scoundrel of a character I Am Naughty. s/he is nothing like me, i am a responsible boring grown up adult who has no time for cheeky retorts like that. 0_o btw, what does the Pourquoi… title mean?

  17. Shorty says:

I hope you drive cars better than you ride horse’s,
    he he,
