I never thought I would cause a car to back into another one, but I did. I’m wondering if it was my casual, nonchelant glide across the car park that sparked his interest, or if it was perhaps, because I was waving my arms around like a spaz at the reversing driver, and cringing at the impending smash. I’m not totally certian, but his watching me and not where he was going, resulted in a little car park bang-up right before my eyes.

I swear I could see him blush from 10feet away, through his windscreen.
The smashee looked less than impressed. She gave me a strange look.
The people in the van beside me jumped out to place blame (be witnesses).
The smasher couldn’t look me in the eye…
So I jumped in my little rolla and left. Nice one Kirst

A couple of weeks ago, I recieved an email from out of the blue. A blast from the past, it floored me.

When our family moved to Te Puke, way back in ‘85, when I was the ripe old age of 11, I instantly bonded with a girl that lived across the road from where we were staying. Shirley-Anne. We were inseperable. We reared calves for Lamb and Calf Day together. We rode horses for hours, swam in the local stream all day. We made tunnels in the freshly stacked Hay Barn and played truth or dare and spin the bottle in it’s hidden depths. Played pool for hours and danced around in her family’s living room all night. We were fearless and inseperable. Her family was like my second family. There are so many stories but I wouldn’t know where to begin. Most, humerous and often embarassing, but all definately worth remembering. I may spill a story or two over time.

In third form, at Te Puke High School, Shirley-Annes’ family moved away, to Opotiki. It seemed like she moved to a whole ‘nother country. Sure, I got to see her on School holidays, but it just wasn’t the same as having my best friend just down the road. We drifted apart :o (

Sure, I tracked her down a time or two, and she did the same, but both of us had a habit of moving and losing contact again.

A couple of weeks ago, I recieved an email from out of the blue. A blast from the past, it floored me.

Her sister, Katrina, had found me on Trademe (NZ version of Ebay) a wee while ago. She must have been quick because I was only up for sale for a day. Friends had placed me up for bid as a joke, and I quickly fetched up to 5grand before Trademe staff took the auction down. They did admit they saw the hilarity in it. So did I. I want my 5grand though!

Katrina let Shirley-Anne know, and from there, she contacted me (I am a little confused how they found iKirst.com)

Shirley-Anne was living less than two hours from me, and was happily married (I never thought I’d see the day), with three children.
Sunday just past, I drove down to see her. Boy, she hasn’t changed at all. She’s still taller than me (not hard, I guess :o P), still blonde, and still has that cheeky sparkle in her eye.

We talked and talked for what only seemed like half an hour, but it was more like 3. I would have loved to stay longer, but with this stupid flu I’ve had for the last couple of weeks, my eyes get a little watery, making it harder to see in night driving. I’ll be headed down there again very soon. She was my best friend over half my lifetime ago, and we have a lot of time to catch up on. Our lives have been on totally different paths, but that still doesn’t mean they shouldn’t cross a lot more. And they will :)

On other news, with a huge hand from Ross, I have my Bungy jump, along with the other 6 leapers of the day, transfered into a very flashy DVD for each of them. That easily took up a couple of my nights. I have braved the ice, yet again, only to have my knee complaining within a few minutes. And, I have been late almost every day to work, for the last two weeks, and noone has cared. Nice ;)

The days till Peters arrival back in NZ are finally in single figures, so I can allow myself to get a little excited about it. But also, I have a feeling of.. not so much dread, but wonder, over how I’ll cope with him being around for weeks, as opposed to days. Should I ignore my own questions? I don’t know :? I’ll find when I see him eh……

I think there is an advert on Television something like this, where the Insurance assessors drive into the green recycle bins while investigating why so many accidents happen outside a certain residence…. lol

Yeah, I’ve seen the commercial, it cracked me up. I never thought I’d be the reason (vehicle-lessly) behind a ding though :P
Young Ben can tell you about a truck nearly hitting a lamp post at the end of last year. Something to do with Jo & I in the rain….

Ah, I wouldn’t want to hide from you anyway, Mate. Friendships past can blossom again, and I know this one surely has already ;)
