I had to have a giggle at something I heard in passing today.
I have heard the notion before, but never heard it in practice… Disney Stories are full of morals and meanings.
Cinderella is interpreted as this..
Love has no Socio-ecomonic boundries.. but it certainly helps if you bag yourself a loaded man
Why, is that a thing to teach our Children?
No wonder little girls have been planning their fairytale wedding since they were 5. No wonder little boys are running scared and think girls are icky! They are right to think us of the fairer sex are money grabbing, gold digging vixens (with little feet - I wear a size 7 by the way
). In a lot of cases I guess I can agree with the portrayal, but it’s generalistic.
Even the desire to marry, and the pressure to marry is falling by the weyside, career seems to be taking hold over that part of the human programming (read: brainwashing). Maybe the girls have seen the ploy of what used to be ideal as just that.. USED to be.
Ask yourself, would you prefer all the money in the world, the best job, the coolest clothes, and the flashest car.. or is love enough?
(I know, I know, it’s nice to have everything, but sometimes you can’t eat the cake too)
I’m still an old fashioned gal. Love is enough for me. Coin aint the be all and end all. But I didn’t know that from the start. I wasn’t one of the tiny brides planning my wedding of the future; but in my early 20’s I thought money was cool and important, and it created respect. It’s bollicks! My health and well being was more important. Had I stayed within my surroundings of my early 20’s, I probably wouldn’t be alive today. The person who claimed he loved me, and helped me create all the wealth I once had (I was doing very well for my age), also had a penchant for black and blue. My respect now is not demanded from me, it’s earned of me.
Cindy had it sweet. So did Julia in Pretty Woman, but it’s still a fairytale… I’d love a fairytale ending, but I just don’t see any real concrete proof that it can and does happen.
I seem to have detracted somewhat from the topic at hand. As I uncover more Fairytale morals, I’ll let you know.
I do think Disney (the company) need’s to re-write a story that fits todays lives.
Here’s a thought though, what on earth do you think he was trying to tell us when he wrote Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? ![]()

Disney WAS a man, who, depending on who you ask, was either a spy, a dirty old man, or just someone who wanted to make the world a better place — regardless, he gave us a lot of fun things to do and watch, and made a shitload of cash in the process.. Now, Disney is a company, and they make uber-shitloads of cash and every now and again, give us something to enjoy..
Remember though, that a lot of the Disney films, both animation and real-life alike, are based on fairy tales.. And if you ever go back and read any of those now, with the benefit of the wisdom of age (however much you might have
), you’ll be horrified by the goings on in them.. It’s just like TV.. A recent study showed that the most violent tv channel in one area was Nickelodeon — the “kids” network..
I’m not sure if I should have said all of that, or just come out with the old one-liner: Snow White was in the hot-tub feeling happy, so he got out..
Remember Rainbow? Zippy and Bungle? there’s a whole ‘nother *hidden meaning if you’re a dirty dirty mind* childs show :p
Do you think it would have caused an uproar if it was Joe White and the Seven Nymphs??
Actually, isn’t that on TV with the working title, The Bachelor??
I think you’ll find that the modern day Snow White was Trista (The Bachelorette!)
I wonder how many other *Reality* shows relate to Disney Movies.
You got me thinking, Burt
hmmm - disney you say - well let me ask you about life imitating art - uncle scrooge and his three nephews are awfully close to the bone when you think about michael jackson aren’t they.
Huey, Duey and Luey slept together in the same bed, However!! they didn’t sleep in the same bed as Scrooge! You’re terrible Muriel!
how do ya know though? no one seems to know what happened at Neverland Ranch on sleep overs. Anyway - i have to agree with you, Scrooge was not the type to interfere with little boys. thank god. xx
What we dont know won’t kill us?
Dunno.. for some reason, love is somehow so distant in many terms. With the divorce rates as high as they are, makes me wonder if anyone takes their wedding vows seriously… At what point in time did “For better or worse, till death do us part” get replaced by “For better or bust, till low cash funds do us part?” If Disney writes a story to fit the moral standings of the masses at this day and age… it would make Walt Disney turn over and do backflips in his grave… or in his frozen state in Disney World, whichever theory you prefer to believe.
Han! Nice to see you on iKirst
xox
I whole-heartedly agree with you. But there is still the odd soul that takes wedding vows as they are intended. If I ever marry, it’s for life. Death will be the parting sorrow. No sooner. I know you’re much the same.
Another thing to consider is fertility as well.. if you put off having children it can happen that you never end up being able to make babies… fertility starts taking a dive at 27 yet many women seem to want to delay having babies till they’re over 30. sometimes even 40. Completely unrelated sorry. (well sort of)
Well, I dont think anyone has destroyed childhood innocence quite like you Kirst.
I think you’ll find the ‘princess’ fantasy is more aligned with the ‘attention factor’. When your a princess everyone is paying attention to you. Your the centre of the kingdom.
It’s a common thought amoung children and young adults alike that their life is a movie and they are the star.
Unfortunately, this often leads to thoughts of “nothing can go wrong”, “everything will just work out” and “it wont happen to me” when making important choices in life.
The word is you’re, ahahaha.
So that’s what a princess is. I co-star in everyone elses movies, so I guess that counts me out for being branded a Princess.
As for the “nothing can go wrong”, “everything will just work out” and “it wont happen to me” statements, I am the complete opposite. I bring drama and intrigue. Often unwitting and unwillingly, but I’m why Murphy created the “anything that can go wrong, will go wrong” law/theory.
And that’s my claim to fame, hah!
Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong law/theory? - You should come for a ride along sometime. I will show you the definition of this statement
Besides, from what you’ve told me of your past your lucky your still alive so not everthing has gone wrong
Maybe that’s the ultimate kick out of the whole thing, I AM still alive, hah.
Lucky I’m a patient soul eh :lol:0
Still waiting for my ride along
It’s a small world after all
Hah!@ I can atest to thatone, b0b, it certainly is
interesting topic, i like the way you think, so many things are taken for granted this day and age, i say challenge everything!
Indeed, Justin
